Your Journal- Ch 12

In all my work experience, I have had only two jobs. My favorite job so far is in the Merchandise department at Great America. I started in 2008 as an associate then worked my way up to a Lead, and next season I start as a supervisor. The other job that I started a week ago is at Ross. It is only a seasonal job until I start at Great America again in Febuary. The skills I learned from both my jobs that can be useful towards my future career would be managment skills, talking to people, and just business skills.

My ideal occupation would be to be a high school teacher. I think I would want to be a Spanish teacher and also be involved and take charge and be the Leadership teacher. I really don't know what is needed to be a teacher but I'm pretty sure a good college education. The chances of me actually persuing my ideal career is about a 3. Eventough I would like to teach for the rest of my life, it just doesn't pay off and especially now with all the budget cuts.

Know yourself- Ch 12

A person's values are an important factor in their future career. Values that are important to you such as your happiness, the amount of money you earn, or the extra time you have to spend with your family should be something that you base your decision of the future career you are pursuing because if you get a career where these values are not met, you might not enjoy it or perform to your best ability.

Senior/Peer Mentor Interview

On Monday November 16, the class interviewed both a Senior and a Peer Mentor on their college experience and a few things about San Jose State University. All the questions used in the interview were questions that the students of our class put together. The interviews were being recorded by Prof. Dan as a radio show using the program Audacity. The first interview was conducted by Patrick H. interviewing senior Matt. Matt is majoring in english and wants to be a high school english teacher. He also loves writting and hopes to write some good pieces in the near future. He told us that it is very inportant to get involved in clubs and organizations and that if he could go back and do his whole college experience again, he would only change that and get more involved. The second interview was conducted by Jose interviewing Peer Mentor Natalie. Natalie is majoring in dance. She talked about her dancing, and about being a peer mentor. She added that by being a peer mentor she got many helpful benefits such as being able to register for classes earlier and meeting many people around the campus. After each individual interview they joined together and talked about the economic crisis at San Jose Sate University. They both said that it's bad but we just got to hope for the best and keep fighting for our future.

Know Yourself: CH 11

Knowing how to prioritize your money is a very important skill, especially when attending college and having a lot of expenses. One way I prioritize by figuring out what are my needs and my wants. If I need something I will most likely lean my money towards buying that than rather buying something I want but don't really need. Finding the difference between needs and wants will really help you spend money correctly and prioritize what needs to be bought.

Your Journal: CH 11

When it came to earning money, it was something that was easy for me. My mom usually gave me money and paid for everything I needed. When I turned 16, I decided to look for a job and got hired at Great America. When I started working that was my main source of earnings and till this day it still is. As I started earning more money I started spending it non stop. I spent it on clothes, shoes, trips, and gifts. I use to spend it carelessly, but now I manage my money wisely and save when possible.

Your Journal: CH 11

Money managment is something that is very important while in college. In my situation, I know how to manage my money wisely. I always know how much money I will have for the week or month after paying off my priorities, such as school supplies, food, gas, and clothes. I also know how to manage money when it comes to planning my monthly vacations. I see how much money I have and it determines how big and far my trip/vacation is.

Your Journal- CH. 10

Getting a good night sleep and plenty of rest is very important to a person, especially when in college. In my case, I believe that I have very bad sleeping habits. I usually stay up late night, and have to wake up early in the morning. I sometimes take day naps, but I don't think I receive enough sleep or enough rest. I need to try to fix my sleeping habits because it will help me with my health and with keeping myself energized at school.

Your Journal: Ch 10
Stress plays a big factor on someone's emotions. When I'm very stressed I tend to have alot of emotions. Sometimes I'm happy and feel determine to overcome and finish whatever has me stressed. Other times stress really makes me angry and sometimes sad. I feel like giving up on my tasks because I have so many things piled up. And then after my anger I become sad when I think about the consequences that are going to happen if I continue to give up and not complete my tasks.
