12/06/09 Blog

This is the last blog for the course. My first college semester was really fast and I felt like I didn't even pay to much attention to it. If i can do my first semester in college all over again, I would really focus more in school, turn in all my assignments on time, not want to hurry out of school as my last class ends, attend more events, and talk to counsolers and be more prepared. For the future, I am transferring to Evergreen Valley Community College to finish my GEs because it is much cheaper and right now SJSU is going trough some budget cuts and I wasn't able to receive the classes I needed.

12/02/09 Blog

It's the last 3 blogs so Dan wants us to write about our first semester in college. Regarding the school work I think I really lagged it and messed up on. I should have been more into my classes and my assignments instead of wanting to get out of school as soon as possible to hang out with my friends. That costed me alot beacuse I didnt do alot of assignments and so far has cause me to fail one class.

11/30/09 Blog

Well it's almost the end of the semester and for the last 3 blogs Dan wants us to write about our first semester in college. University was a little different than I expected but in a way the same. It was like going to a regular high school, but a high school where you know almost no one, the classes are bigger and are really fast paced, and the content of the courses make you analyze things more than in high school. Overall college is a good expirerience and for my first semester I fell like I missed out on alot beacuse I really didn't take advantage of what was given to us at school and was more worried of leaving school right after my last class.

Workshop- Choosing Your Major

One Muse workshop I attended was the Choosing Your Major workshop. This workshop took place at the career center. The workshop basically helped us figure out what major was best for us. The speaker told us that everything in your life such as childhood activities, hobbies, and things you like to do and don't lie to do play a big factor in what major you are heading towards. He also said that a person's personality can play a role in which career to pursue. He gave us many pointers and tips on how to find out which major is best for you and what kind of jobs you can do with each major after your graduate.

University Leadership Conference

Today I came with the MUSE class to the Leadership Conference Meeting at the MLK library. The president, John W. and the provost are both going to answer questions asked by the audience that attended the meeting. The questionnaire starts as almost every question is about the budget cuts. Both the president and the provost answer the questions with a response that makes it seem as the university is doing ok and we will overcome the harsh situation we are in. The keep reminding us to stay strong and to keep fighting when in reality they know the university is going down the drain. Another topic that was talked about a lot was the remedial students. The president explained that if a remedial student fails this semester, they will not be kicked out like it was said before, but now will have to complete that course in a community college within a year. While the student is taking the course at another college, they are welcome to still take other courses at SJSU. After that the meeting ended and everyone ran to the lemonade and cookies.
